How much of their goal have GlobalGiving campaigns reached?
Funding progress across 315 GlobalGiving campaigns: how many are past halfway, how few are at 100%, and why the median beats the average.

Most GlobalGiving campaigns are past the halfway point: 230 of 315, or 73%, have raised at least half of their funding goal, and 129 (41%) have raised three quarters or more. Yet only 4 campaigns, 1.3% of the list, have reached 100%. That one number shapes how to read every funding percentage you see on a campaign page.
The distribution
• 100% or more: 4 campaigns (1.3% of the 315), funding score 95.
• 75% to 99%: 125 campaigns (39.7%), funding score 89 to 95.
• 50% to 74%: 101 campaigns (32.1%), funding score 83 to 89.
• 25% to 49%: 50 campaigns (15.9%), funding score 76 to 82.
• Under 25%: 35 campaigns (11.1%), funding score 70 to 76.
*FundTracker's funding score is 70 plus one quarter of the percentage of the goal raised, with the percentage capped at 100, so a campaign can score between 70 and 95. It measures funding progress only. The scoring guide explains the formula.
The percentages add to 100.1% because each is rounded to one decimal.
Why so few are at 100%
These figures cover the campaigns in our database on October 25, 2026. A project that has already finished fundraising may not be in it. So the small number at or above 100% does not show how often GlobalGiving projects reach their goals. It shows how many of the campaigns we track are at or past it. This data cannot tell us how many finished projects reached their goals.
A different group of four deserves a note. Four campaigns, also 1.3% of the list, run under GlobalGiving's own name and hold $25.2 million, 46% of all the money raised across the 315 campaigns. Article 3 looks at them.
A typical campaign is much smaller than the average
• Median (half of campaigns are below this): $53,891 raised, $85,000 goal.
• Average: $173,880 raised, $225,624 goal.
The average amount raised is about 3.2 times the median, and the average goal about 2.7 times its median. A handful of very large campaigns pulls the averages up. If you want to know what a typical campaign looks like, use the median: about $54,000 raised against a goal of $85,000.
That gives you a simple yardstick. A campaign that has raised $50,000 is close to typical. One that has raised several hundred thousand dollars is well above the median, and one at $10 million is in a category of its own.
How to use a funding percentage
• Compare campaigns with similar goals. A campaign with a $10,000 goal reaches 75% far more easily than one with a $1 million goal. Percentages say how much of a target is filled, not how large the effort is.
• A high percentage is not a quality mark. It shows how much of the goal has been raised. It says nothing about how the money is spent or what the project achieves.
• A low percentage is not a warning. Campaigns are at different stages, and our data does not include how long each has been running.
• Look at the amount as well as the percentage. A campaign at 90% of a small goal and one at 40% of a large goal may have raised very different sums.
What this analysis does not cover
It covers only the campaigns in our database on the day of our data. It does not follow any campaign over time, so it cannot say how fast campaigns fill or how often they reach their goals. It also does not look at outcomes. For that, read each organization's own reports.
